WE ARE LOOKING FOR A PROCESS ENGINEER FOR DEVELOPMENT AT ONE OF EUROPE'S LARGEST BIOCARBON PRODUCTION PLANTS
Did you know that for every ton of biocarbon that replaces fossil coal in the production of metals, we reduce fossil CO2 emissions by up to five tons? The metallurgical industry produces materials that we are completely dependent on to live modern lives, and with biocarbon as a reduction material, we enable major emission cuts.
At Hønefoss we are now building Vow Green Metals' first large-scale biocarbon production plant (one of Europe's largest). The main product from the production plant is biocarbon, which will replace fossil reduction materials in metal production. The plant's production capacity for the next few years has already been sold in full to the metallurgical companies Elkem and Outokumpu. The production plant will also produce bio-oil, which can replace fossil oil in many industries, and bioenergy that can be used in surrounding industry and for the production of district heating.

The Process Engineer will play a central role in VGM's process development. The person in question participates in and implements projects related to the development of VGM's production process. The Process Engineer also participates in planning long-term process development by identifying changed process parameters, modifications or new process equipment and presenting opportunities for development. The position is placed in the technology department, but can also be loaned to other departments, such as the project or operations department for specific projects / tasks. Some travel is expected.
The position reports to the CTO and The workplace is Hønefoss or Lilleaker.

Work tasks

The process engineer in the technical department will mainly work project-based with various tasks such as:

• Together with the production department, evaluate function and process parameters to optimize installed process sections. Document completed work and possibly follow up on the implementation of new practices.
• Through VGM's own data, literature and contact with equipment suppliers and the process industry, identify suitable equipment that improves existing process sections or develops new ones. More suitable equipment may typically be commercially available or available equipment that requires some modification.
• Prepare project documentation for testing and piloting new processes and process equipment. Here, the prepared equipment list and offers for equipment and services will be included for cost calculations.
• Based on approved projects, carry out tests and/or piloting of process equipment and process sections at suppliers or at VGM's locations.
• Participate in the installation and commissioning of process equipment for new factories or the conversion of existing facilities.

Education and desired qualifications

• Higher relevant technical education
• A few years of relevant experience from a similar role including project-based work
• Good professional insight, technical insight and good results to show for it
• Good digital skills
• Experience with interdisciplinary project-based work and understanding of how development projects are planned and implemented
• Knowledge of industrial production and experience with process automation is an advantage.
• Fluent in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language and English at a good level, both spoken and written.
